Better to Be Safe, Than Sorry!
Have you ever chipped a tooth and ignored it until your next dental visit? We are here to tell you that it’s not a good idea! Mouth injuries are a common problem and can cause teeth to become cracked, broken or dislodged. This can happen from any of your average day activities, like playing a rough game of football or biting down into a hard candy. Although these injuries seem minor, they can have serious implications. The most important thing to do after a mouth injury is to have it checked out as soon as possible.
Here are a few things you can do to avoid injuries:
- Wear a mouthguard – Mouth guards can seriously prevent injury while playing any contact sports.
- Avoid hard foods and candies – Pay attention when enjoying hard candies, ice or nuts.
- Practice Activities with Caution – Although we cannot plan for emergencies, sometimes we assume “what is the worst that can happen?” If there are any steps you can take to avoid the risk, be sure to take them!
