Bad Breath & Periodontics

 In News
Bad breath is a common problem for many people. It can stem from a number of different reasons. One cause can be from Periodontal Disease – our specialty! A symptom of periodontal disease is persistent bad breath or a constant bad taste in your mouth. An essential to combatting bad breath due to gum disease is maintaining good oral hygiene.

At Niagara Periodontics we can help diagnose the state of your oral hygiene and the best course of treatment. Diagnosis can be any of the following:

Gingivitis (earliest stage of gum disease)

Periodontitis (pockets are formed at the gum line and some irreversible damage has occurred).

Advanced Periodontitis (most advanced stage where the fibres of your bone are being destroyed).

Proper brushing and flossing goes a long way in preventing and reversing early damage of gum disease. Use an antibacterial toothpaste and rinse your mouth at least twice a day to kill bacteria. A professional cleaning is also an essential to ensure difficult plaque is cleaned properly.
